IndieWeb Movie Club: February 2026 – Winged Migration (2001)

January 17, 2026 · 2π

This is my call to watch for the IndieWeb Movie Club.

The Selection

Winged Migration (French: Le Peuple Migrateur) is a 2001 documentary directed by Jacques Perrin, Jacques Cluzaud, and Michel Debats. Filmed over four years across all seven continents, the film follows the migratory journeys of birds with minimal narration, letting the imagery speak for itself.

The filmmakers fly alongside cameras in gliders, planes, helicopters, and balloons. The result is breathtaking footage that puts you right alongside the birds in flight.

Why I Picked It

I picked this movie for its understated beauty, simplicity, and cinematography. In a busy, overstimulating world full of special effects, this movie is a meditation - a moment to reflect and center.

Where to Watch

Winged Migration appears to be available to rent on multiple streaming services including Apple and Prime. It will hopefully also be at your local library.
