Did 19 positions on Checkmate Patterns I on Lichess, played one game, and then analyzed. I wish we had played through so I could practice the endgame I just learned, but they resigned. I then played my son and messed up annotation so can't analyze, but we chatted about it. I need to be careful about pins and count attackers and defenders. Also - PCR - protect, capture, run when I am in check. He had a lot of good pointers.

Did Checkmate Patterns II on Lichess, played one game, that ended in under 2min because they resigned and then another that I totally blunderd with my knight. I need to think more about protecting first. In the evening I played another game and felt more confident- even after blundering my queen. And then my son and I played after dinner for two games.

Did puzzles for a bit - I like those a lot. They helped me relize how often I am not really looking for the best move. I got a checkmate on the lichess game and felt like I saw it better than I would have yesterday. I then played my partner - we blundered together until the end, but it was fun. My pawn was a bowling pin to a checkmate. I missed some important moves that I reflected on, and annotated the whole game well enough to actually get it into the computer!

I have a plan.

I have set up this journal, a lichess account, and played games to get a baseline. My plan is to play a 10+5 game daily and analyze it after 15-20 minutes of studying. Picks will be my score on a scale of 0-5 for what I feel I've learned that day.
